ABOUT

We are Penny, Ollie, and Isaac and we've worked together on organic veggie farms around Canterbury for years. Long days in the fields provided fertile ground to chat about what matters to us. We questioned what we do, and why we do it.

Isaac Penny and Ollie of Untamed Earth Organic Farm

We are a group of organic farmers driven by our passions. Caring for the soil, the world around us, and the people in our community is at the heart of what we do.

For years, farmers were sold a myth that we could tame the earth. We were offered chemicals that promised large yields of shiny, uniform foods. Crops grew bigger and faster, but they were definitely not better.

At Untamed Earth Organic Farm we believe that nature knows best. The soil has its own wild and mysterious methods. Our job is to let the land work its magic, doing just what’s needed to help it along.

Growing organically isn’t always the easy option. It takes patience, hard work and expertise. We don’t claim to know everything, but there is one thing we’re sure about – when we nourish the soil, it will nourish us back.

We run farms in Ōtautahi/Christchurch. We grow staples like carrots, broccoli, and lettuce, as well as some things you won’t find on the supermarket shelves. All told, we grow over forty different kinds of fruit, vegetables, and herbs on 60 acres of organic market gardens. Our range is constantly changing with the seasons, so you know that everything you buy is always fresh and sustainably grown.

You’ll find us at our Farm Shop, the Lyttleton, Ohoka and South Christchurch farmers markets, and if you cant see us there you can order one of our veggie boxes for home delivery. We also supply Piko WholefoodsLiberty Market and some of Ōtautahi’s top cafés and restaurants.

Strong relationships with our customers are important to us. It makes us feel good, keeps us accountable, and ensures that you get the freshest possible produce.
